What we didn’t
- Engineered wood shelves will bow under a full run of hardbacks over time
- Assembly is the usual cam-lock exercise and takes about ninety minutes
Our review
Most flat-pack bookcases at this price have fixed shelves and an open back, and both are why they rack under load. This one adjusts three of its five shelves and ships a hardboard back that squares the case, so a full wall of paperbacks does not lean after a year.
It is still engineered wood, so a shelf packed end to end with hardbacks will bow eventually. The wall anchor strap is in the box and should go on the wall, not in a drawer.
